living under the pines
Your Home is a beautiful 200-acre property

Camp North Star is a private, co-ed summer camp in Poland Spring, Maine. At any given point throughout the summer, there are approximately 125 staff members and 225 campers. Campers are boys and girls who are 7 through 17 years old. Last summer, campers and staff represented 26 states throughout the U.S. and 17 foreign countries. North Star truly is an international community. That’s why the cabin names are world capitals like London, Paris, Sydney, Copenhagen, Cairo, and Beijing!

Most counselors live in cabins with campers. Typically there are 9 - 10 campers and 2 - 3 staff in each cabin. Campers are grouped by gender and school grade. There are 25 camper/staff cabins in four separate areas – The Line, The Woods, The Grove, and The Village. Each cabin has wooden bunk beds, electricity, and 2 full bathrooms. Each bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower. Camp provides weekly laundry service for campers and staff.

Summers in Maine are warm and sunny underneath the pines, with the weather cooling down significantly at night. Walking around our 200-acre property, you will find athletic fields, art studios, a 55-acre private lake, high ropes course, and 5 miles of mountain bike trails.

There are two staff lounges for counselors to enjoy during their time off. Each lounge has WiFi, air conditioning, a kitchen, large screen TV, and recreational games.

While we spend most of our days ‘under the pines’ there are weekly trips planned to popular tourist destinations throughout Maine and New Hampshire. Popular trips include a cruise to Peaks Island, a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game, tubing on the Saco River, Crescent Beach State Park, and Cranmore Mountain Adventure Park. There are also lots of options for staff time off. We are a short drive to the towns of Auburn, Lewiston, and Windham. Portland is the largest city in Maine and it’s only 35 minutes away. Staff enjoy the variety of options for restaurants, shopping, movies, beaches, and other fun activities.
