our primary focus: The health, safety, and security of our campers
Nutrition
Camp North Star offers a wide range of delicious and nutritious food options. There are three meals daily as well as afternoon and evening snack, and fresh fruit is available throughout the day. Breakfast and dinner are served in our beautiful dining hall where campers bond with their cabin while eating family style. During lunch we take advantage of summer weather and dine outside, buffet style, at our scenic picnic area. Campers enjoy the opening seating at lunch with allows them to sit with friends from both within and outside their cabin. This helps foster a great sense of community and family.

We are all about choice at Camp North Star, even with food. Each morning we have a hot entree (pancakes, scrambled eggs, omelets, French toast, etc.), in addition to a breakfast bar that includes fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and granola. Cold and hot cereals are also offered daily.
During lunch we have a main entree, sides, and salad bar with a variety of vegetables and salad toppings. In addition, there are also a variety of sandwiches available daily.
At dinner, there are a variety of tasty main entrees, sides, vegetables, and pasta is available each night.
Camp North Star is all about individual attention and needs. This includes food options and allergies. Our Food Service Team is able to accommodate many allergies and dietary restrictions and provide healthy alternatives. Contact us to discuss your child’s specific needs
We ensure that every camper is properly fed and our counselors are trained to notice food intake at every meal. It is very important to us that every child is properly nourished and hydrated because of the high level of activity throughout the day.

Safety
Camp North Star’s Health Center is in the center of camp and has a warm and inviting feel for all of our campers. Our medical staff is on site and available 24 hours a day. Our registered nurses manage all the campers’ medical needs of our campers. The health center includes an examination room, male and female dorm rooms, and living quarters for all of our medical staff. The health center is air conditioned for the comfort of our campers.
Parents are notified by a member of the medical staff if their child has been in the health center overnight, their child has been placed on prescription medicine, or their child has been taken to an out-of-camp doctor, emergency room or hospital. You can rest assured that our nurses will keep you informed regarding the health of your child.
Camp North Star’s medical staff is supported by the camp’s pediatrician who is on-call and available throughout the entire camp season. Our doctor’s full medical office is less than 2 miles from camp. Central Maine Medical Hospital is just a short 12 mile drive in neighboring Lewiston.
